Other Committee · Meeting of October 7, 2026
Holyoke's Public Service Committee advanced five nominees to a newly combined Historical Commission and tabled a sixth. Councilor Gerry Graney and the committee chair voted 2-0 on each confirmation, with Councilor Devine, who was absent, submitting a written statement backing all the appointees. Susan Brouillette, Steven Fay, Kate Hopkinson, Kevin Rice and Fleur Cuda were confirmed; Emilia Mosley's nomination was tabled after she did not respond to a meeting invitation.
Nominee Kate Hopkinson called the new commission "overdue" on scheduling a public hearing, and several candidates, echoing one another, said "listening" and "research" would guide their decisions on certificates of appropriateness and demolition-delay cases. All five confirmed appointments head to the full City Council for final approval on October 20.
